Formerly the Great Cloister of the abbey, it was entirely remodeled in the 17th century. Rectangular today, it extends from the Gatehouse to the abbey church. It is bordered on the left by the enclosing wall (built in 1640 to isolate the village from the abbey) and the former stables built in the 17th and 18th centuries (now exhibition rooms of the Museum). Opposite, on the right side, the building for Foreign Guests, built in the 17th century, welcomed distinguished non-religious guests in apartments reserved for them. A ceremonial lounge was intended for the audiences granted by the abbot. In the extension were the infirmaries reserved for the monks (now the stone cutter's workshop) as well as a pharmacy for the preparation of remedies.
