Le Bastion is the "original" museum, small and charming. Across the harbor, the larger Musée Jean Cocteau – Collection Séverin Wunderman has been located there since 2011.
In the 1950s, the former fortress was restored at the initiative of French artist Jean Cocteau . In 1966 , the year of his death, the first Jean Cocteau Museum opened here, with rooms designed by himself. Not only the artworks inside, but also the mosaic floor, doors, and even the restrooms were designed by Cocteau himself. It is therefore more of a total work of art than a mere exhibition.
There are regular temporary exhibitions of Cocteau's work or that of his contemporaries.
