The market hall was built in 1898 in Belle Époque style .
Typical features include the iron structure , colorful awnings, and large windows—a prime example of market halls from that period. The rear of the building (facing the sea) is richly decorated with ceramic panels inspired by Mediterranean motifs.
The halls feature stalls selling fresh fish and fruit (such as at La Pescaria ), fruit and vegetables from local farmers, cheeses, cured meats, olives, honey, herbs, flowers, artisan bakeries and pastries, ready-made meals, socca, fougasse, quiches, ravioli niçoise, and more.
