The church at Colmier-le-Haut was formerly dedicated to Saint-Bénigne. The construction of the new tower-porch in 1830 necessitated the destruction of the old bell tower, which had been built over the choir. The nave of the old building dated back to the 12th or 13th century, and its vaults had been replaced by a ceiling in 1676. The entire building was rebuilt, keeping the 1830 bell tower, using local materials: tuff from Rolampont, sand from the Colmier-le-Bas, Colmier-le-Haut or Germaines quarries, rubble from the Chamblain or Changey .... quarries. Work on the church was completed in 1881, but three years later, damage occurred on the exterior of the church (problems with the foundations and water drainage), leading to a new phase of work. The church comprises a five-bay nave with three aisles, the 1830 tower-porch in the south-west corner, crowned by a polygonal slate-roofed spire, and a one-bay choir followed by a three-sided apse.
