On the plateau, the Gallo-Roman road passing through the village was a major axis. In the Middle Ages, merchants, pilgrims, armies, and crowned heads passed under a modest yet historic porch: until 1738 it was a toll place at the border of the Kingdom of France and the Viscountcy of Turenne. Notice along the street, the chapel of Our Lady, the charentais-style half-timbered houses. The ancient sunken path crosses a hedged farmland that was a battlefield against the Duke of Lancaster. This first loop returns to the cemetery before descending to the stream of La Tourmente. The tunnel, a single-track railway, was the longest in France: over 2000m.
