Through we know not what color alchemy, the gorges of the Maronne separate the white Xaintrie from the black Xaintrie to the south. The route evolves for half of its length in a forested environment (the name Hautefage refers to the high beech forests) and opens at the end of the journey to a beautiful view of the Broquerie dam, also known as the Hautefage dam. The wooden balconies visible in the village are former chestnut drying houses.
