A24 04 Bléré - Romagne

The fourth ride covers 145 km with only 731 Hm and is therefore a flat ride with the occasional river that we need to cross, hence the elevation. The ride primarily goes in a south-southwest direction, and we mostly remain on quiet departmental roads.

We are still in the department Indre-et-Loire in the region Centre-Val de Loire. We start with the climb from the valley of the Cher and after 15 km we cycle over the Indre, so it’s a brief descent and climb to cross that valley.

After crossing another small river, we ride between Rucon and Buxeuil over the Creuse into the department of Vienne and reach the Nouvelle Aquitaine Region. For the rest of the journey in France, we cycle through this large region along the Atlantic coast. Here we reach the lowest point of the day: Lp 45m after 51 km. To leave this point, we face the biggest climb of the day, from 45 m to 110 m in 3 km. Not too bad!

After that, it gradually descends to Saint-Romain-sur-Vienne (km 59) and we then follow the valley of the Vienne, passing through the fairly large town of Châtellerault (km 74) and only in Vouneuil-sur-Vienne (km 85) do we cross the Vienne.

We now follow the Vienne along the other bank for about 6 km and then head through Saint-Julie-l’Ars, Nieuil-l’Espoir, and Gençay to Sommières-du-Clain, where after 140 km we cross the river Clain.

A final little climb out of the valley brings us to the highest point of the day: Hp 146 m after 145 km and we ride to our stage location. The B&B Le Jardin de Rose is located in the small village of Feuillebert, part of Romagne in the department Vienne in the region Nouvelle Aquitaine Region.
