Description by the author

The village of Cherreau has always been closely linked to the nearby town of La Ferté-Bernard. Indeed, in the Middle Ages, the lords of La Ferté took over the Pelice abbey at the end of the 12th century. Then, in the 14th century, the Plaisse estate was attached to that of La Ferté. More recently, when the town of La Ferté-Bernard expanded in the 19th century, it encroached on Cherreau, to which it annexed the Gué-Faux suburb and Fosse Fondue, bordering the route de Paris, in 1889. Nowadays,
cherreau?s suburban development continues to meet the housing needs of the La Ferté-Bernard employment area.
