Stage from La Guerche-de-Bretagne to Chateaubriant via La Regalante

With a few pedal strokes, you cross the Guerche forest and arrive in the Roche aux Fées region, where the megalithic site can be seen in the village of Essé. The surrounding landscape, the ever-present water, and, if you can see them, the fairies will enchant you upon your arrival in Martigné-Ferchaud. After a refreshment in the village, it is tempting to stop at the Etang de la Forge for a picnic, or even an overnight stay at the campsite, which promises to be a dream.

Thourie is a small, unspoiled village and the perfect place to taste local products at the market on Saturday morning. Further on, the village of Teillay has some lovely heritage surprises in store: the Brutz mines, now a museum, the bucolic Parc Saint Eustache, and the legendary Tombe à la Fille. The town is ideal for a relaxing vacation, combining the discovery of heritage with easy access to shops. Once you've conquered Thourie, it's time to get back on the bike and head to Châteaubriant for a night out with a view of the castle.

Definitely not to be missed

• Martigné Ferchaud: Etang de la Forge and the municipal campsite, where you can stop, stay overnight, and walk around the pond (12.5 km easy). Espace Naturel du Département 35 (bird reserve)
• Rougé: recreational area "les vallées" and the Saint-Joseph forest to stretch your legs, secured bike parking next to the church in the village
• Châteaubriant: the medieval heart, the castle with its Renaissance building and the medieval fort lined by the promenade of the Duke of Aumale. The Choisel site, a rejuvenating green environment. The Micro-folie Museum: a cultural and artistic immersion. Reflection on a historical past with the Fusillés quarry and the Resistance Museum.
