Hiking - the Priory of Hérival

Access: access from the north of Girmont-dVal-d'Ajol, at the place called Le Breuil, at the intersection of the Villerain forest road and the Tanchottes forest road.
Parking: near the Chalets de l'Empereur, at Le Breuil.

Distance: 4.4 km / Duration: 1 h / Elevation: 74m / Marking: green ring / accessible with a stroller.

1) The departure is from the Chalet de l’Empereur (named after Napoleon III, a regular visitor to these places. It is a site that is always very busy when picnic time arrives). Take the path located to the left of the chalet, a few hundred meters to the right, make a brief round trip to see a remarkable tree. Along the way, edge an ancient meadow in a state of peat bog.
2) The first pond on the left of the path is the pond of Tanchottes.
3) Take the left path that leads to the main road serving the valley. (A new pond appears, larger than the previous one).
4) The paved road leads directly to the Prieuré d’Hérival with no difficulty other than a short ascent.
5) Retrace your steps for the return. (Variant: Return to the Chalet de l’Empereur by following the paved road that descends the valley to the intersection of Le Breuil: unmarked and traffic may be an inconvenience, especially on weekends).
