The circuit of the Étang des Marais

A beautiful family walk to enjoy all year round to recharge and have fun!

The pond of the Marais de Rémering-lès-Puttelange is one of the must-see sites of the Sarreguemines Confluences destination. It is known for its attractive natural setting, drawing walkers and nature lovers throughout the year. Over a short distance of 5.5 km, the “Circuit of the Pond” invites you to explore this haven of tranquility and dive into the history of the Aquatic Maginot Line.

The departure point is located just below the Cap Fun campsite, where a first information panel introduces the rich history and strategic role of this reservoir pond.

After a few steps heading to the right, the walk along the dam will offer you an unobstructed view of the calm waters, fishing pontoons, and the surrounding nature. Continuing left after the dam (if you continue right, you will join the ‘Around the Marsh Pond’ circuit of 11.8 km), the path winds between fields and forests, providing a complete immersion in the local biodiversity. The route is highly appreciated by cyclists and hikers. You may also encounter a few horseback riders who enjoy coming to take advantage of the tranquility and coolness of the undergrowth.

Four other information panels will punctuate your walk, allowing you to learn more not only about the Marais pond but also about its neighboring areas of Puttelange, Hoste, and Holving. At the end of the route, two large wooden swings await young and old for some memorable photos facing one of the most beautiful views of the pond. To complete this nature break: a playground and picnic area, also made entirely of wood, is available for you, ideal for sharing a friendly moment.
