On the shores of History

This hiking circuit is marked by historical landmarks: the unmissable European Archaeological Park of Bliesbruck-Reinheim highlights the Celtic and Gallo-Roman eras; the ruins of Frauenberg Castle remind us of the medieval period; from Bliesbruck to Blies-Ebersing, you will have the opportunity to travel on a cycle path built on the route of an old railway where steaming steam trains used to pass through the valley. Created in 1879, during the German annexation (1870-1918), it connected Sarreguemines to Hombourg (Germany). In 1991, the closure of the last service (Reinheim-Hombourg) ended the existence of this line.

The route of the 'On the Shores of History' circuit walks on either side of the Blies. The river forms a natural border between France and Germany.

As you progress through the stages and historical sites in the Blies valley, you will take a pleasant journey back in time in a preserved natural environment.

- Variation: The circuit can be complemented by the circuits “The Boar Woods” (5.5 km) and “In the Steps of the Counts” (5 km).

- Connections: Two connections are available. The first leads to the circuits “Le Grosswald” (6 km) and “La Villa” (3.7 km) in the Grosswald forest. The second, towards Woelfling-lès-Sarreguemines, leads to the circuit “La Chaussée de Bombelles” (11.4 km).
