Discover the village of Maconcourt where the St. Martin church and the Notre-Dame de Ferrière chapel stand. The latter is situated at an altitude of 425m and is notable for having a canopy supported by two wooden pillars, protecting the faithful from the rain. From the chapel, one can admire the Xaintois plain, the Blue Line of the Vosges, and, on clear days, the Ballon d'Alsace. By the way, did you know that legend has it that the piéta of Ferrière was discovered by a plowman in his field near a stream? Unable to move it, he sought help from the priest of Vicherey. Together, they tried to transport the statue in a cart, but the oxen struggled to move forward. It was said that the Virgin was indicating her desire to stay in place, and that is why a chapel was built in her honor.
