Hiking - Saint-Mont via old Saint-Amé

Access: From St-Etienne-lès-Remiremont, at the central roundabout, head towards the mobile gendarmerie barracks.
Parking: Park in the lot near the mobile gendarmerie.

Distance: 7.2 km / Duration: 2 h 30 / Elevation gain: 350 m / Markings: yellow diamond, GR501, red ring, red triangle.

From the mobile gendarmerie of Saint-Étienne-lès-Remiremont, take the road uphill. At the first intersection, turn right onto the path marked with a blue sign that runs alongside housing. Once at the parking area, enter the forest along the left path, then 50m further on, turn right onto the ascending trail.
Continue on this trail following the blue sign markings. It’s a lovely path that runs alongside a logging road. Subsequently, when you reach the logging road, go straight ahead (a bit further, feel free to take a slight detour via Haute borne!). The path then becomes relatively flat until a sign indicating the upcoming arrival at the chapel of old Saint-Amé. At the sign, then descend to the right. Be careful during the descent, the trail is rocky and steep but the chapel is worth it! Once there, feel free to enjoy tables and benches to rest before the ascent towards Saint-Mont.
To continue the walk, go around the chapel on the left and then pass in front of the Saint-Amé cave to reach a trail still marked with a blue sign. The ascent is also a bit steep and rocky: be careful!
Once you arrive at a grassy flat area, at the level of a track, turn right, pass the barrier and continue on this path until the next intersection, turn left to reach Saint-Mont by passing in front of the archaeological digs. Once at Saint-Mont, enjoy the view at 360° and the facilities on-site.
To descend, cross the Saint-Mont site, and take the access road by car towards the Pont des fées. Stay on this road for a few meters then quickly turn left onto a trail still marked with a blue sign. A bit lower down, follow the path to the right to reach the Pont des fées and then continue for a few hundred meters to go around it.
At the cart path, turn left following the red ring marking. Stay on this path for just over a kilometer until you reach an intersection with another path. From there, turn left onto a lovely trail marked with a red triangle, which descends into the forest and then connects to the road. Follow the road to the left towards the Saint-Romary estate.
Upon arriving at the estate, turn right, walk past the restaurant keeping to the right to reach a trail marked with a red triangle that descends to the Cascade de Miraumont. After the waterfall, continue along the path that runs alongside the stream and joins the road. Take this road that leads back to the gendarmerie, towards the starting point.
