Hiking - discovery circuit of the crosses

Access: From Remiremont, head to Val-d'ajol.
Parking: in front of the Peugeot garage, route de Plombières.

Distance: 7.5 km / Duration: 2 h 30 / Elevation gain: 100m / Marking: green ring.

1) Start from the tourist office towards the church. Turn right before the bridge and follow the river until the next bridge. Cross the De Buyer bridge and head towards the Post Office (cross from 1719 to the right of the post office). Head back in the direction of the church. Make a round trip in the small square on rue de Plombières (border marker). Follow with the small square at the foot of the church, facing the bakery (a cross from the 17th century). Go up the main street for 200m, passing in front of the war memorial.
2) Head towards the middle of a small square towards the Gravel cross (named after a former general notary). Continue down the main street to the next crossroads. Follow the rue du Prieuré d'Hérival which leads to the old station. Follow the square on the right. At the next crossroads, turn left onto D20 towards Hamanxard or rue des Mousses. Following the wall of the hotel, a path leads to a place of remembrance (a replica of the Lourdes grotto).
3) Continue along rue des Mousses (D20). On the right sidewalk, three old calvaries line up (two from the 17th century, one from 1803). Then fork onto the road to Rapaumont (the Jean Sauvé cross at the crossroads).
4) At the bottom of the hill after a small bridge, a 500m loop allows access to the hamlet of Rochotte (cross from 1636 and panoramic view over Val-d’Ajol). Back at the bottom of the hill, follow the meadow to the hamlet of Bouchâtel. Take the D23 to the right.
5) Stop at Les Chênes (three crosses to visit). After this small hamlet, follow the small road to Banvoie taking a left.
6) At the hamlet known as Le Pied du Mont (one cross), turn left.
7) At Banvoie, make a round trip of 100m on the right (2 crosses).
8) At Mésaubé (one cross to the left), backtrack 30m then head towards Les Granges (one cross) and La Croix (a small calvary from 1601).
9) Turn right towards Moncel.
10) At the hamlet of Moncel (an old cross near the crossroads), make a round trip of 100m to the right (second cross) and return by the left street to the starting point.
