On the footsteps of the Romans

This circuit combines nature and history. To the east, the route winds for several kilometers through the forest, providing a pleasant walk in the shade of the trees. To the north of Luttange, the traces of history are numerous. In an open landscape, you will walk along two historical paths. One was used in the Middle Ages by monks, while the other is an ancient secondary Roman road. The latter linked two major axes of the Roman road network that once crisscrossed the entire region. You will also pass near Terlange, a vanished village mentioned in writings from 968. Although it is not open to visitors, Luttange Castle deserves attention. Located at a strategic point, it overlooked the Moselle valley. The keep, along with the northwest, southwest, and southeast towers, dates from the 14th century; the castle then belonged to the family of Luttange. In the 15th century, its new owners, the Perpignan family, added an oval tower in front of the keep.
