Le Tortillard

This walk goes around half of the village on the GR124 which corresponds to the old Roman road. All along the way, and especially on the heights of the plains, there are several viewpoints for miles around
On this route or nearby, you will discover :
- the Church of St Sebastien rebuilt in 1831 with stones from the old Abbey of St Just En Chaussée,
- Behind the church, a beautifully laid out square with flowers,
- In the alley behind the square: one of the 3 calvaries of the village,
- Near the church in the rue de Picardie, an old well,
- Nearby is the war memorial with a statue of a soldier.
On arriving in Bulles, you can see the Calvary of the Cross of St Lâdre (Patron Saint of Lepers) located opposite the cemetery, it marks the location of the old chapel and a leper colony (also called a "maladerie" or "ladrerie"), a place of isolation and care for diseases and leprosy (still present in 1760).
Bulles has known Gallo-Roman and Merovingian civilizations, its communal charter dates from 1181.
