The Gabelou was a customs officer responsible for monitoring salt. Hence the name of this marked trail (yellow marking) of 29.5 km for hiking and mountain biking connecting Salins les Bains and Arc et Senans. The Gabelous path follows approximately the historical route of the saumoduc, a double wooden pipe that allowed the Royal Saltworks of Arc et Senans to receive brine extracted from the Saltworks of Salins les Bains. Interpretive signage is also accessible, at various points, by car.
You will walk along the Loue and the Furieuse by the Graduations building, Champagne-sur-Loue, Port-Lesney, Rennes-sur-Loue and Chapelle-sur-Furieuse.
