THEROUANNE is a small and quiet village near Haezebrouck, St.-Omer and Béthune, somewhat hidden among the hills in the source area of the Leie, about 40 km from the Belgian border (Abele) or just under 60 km from Ypres.
The village can serve as a starting point for bike rides to villages like Azencourt (museum about the Middle Ages) or along rivers like the Créquoise and the Aa.
Just behind the church of Thérouanne, there is a large parking lot for cars.
The Tour de Thérouanne was organized on July 4, 2010, by the cycling club De Platte Tube Ieper. Martin, who created the beautiful route, took his teammates Johny, Georges, Marc, Dirk, Stefaan, StepH, Freddy, Chris, Ivo, and Paul with him and let them discover picturesque villages and roads. On the numerous hills (1200 meters of elevation gain), they enjoyed the immense nearly 360° views and... the fatigue!
After the ride, be sure to take the time to try the regional "Eclaires Speculoos" at the St.-Georges bakery near the church!
