Villandry has a beautiful castle that you can admire before or after the start of this tour. You first pass through Vallères towards the Château de Gerfaut, which is a little hidden in the woods. Then you go down to Azay-le-Rideau. In this town with the historic city center there is also a castle. Then you cycle towards the Loire, leaving the Indre valley by two short climbs and passing the Château de la Roche. You descend to the Indre valley and pedal towards the Loire. You follow the Loire for kilometers. You take a trip to the other side of the Loire to admire the medieval center of Langeais with its magnificent castle. You then pedal again on the same Roman bridge over the Loire to return to the other side. The last kilometers to Villandry you follow the Cher, a tributary of the Loire, where the road surface is briefly (over a distance of 400 meters) paved.
Given the distance, the touristy character (many castles and beautiful places) and the slightly hilly terrain, the route is also suitable for an ordinary bike.
