Besançon - Auxerre - Tours

This is what motorcycle riding is all about: twisties, fast roads, great landscapes. Follow this route from the French city of Besançon (capital of the region Doubs) towards the city of Tours, more than 500 kilometers away. Since you'll only take small roads, be prepared to spend 8 - 12 hours in the saddle. The are (toll-free) options available all along the way which can get you to Tours faster.

I was thinking about which part of this route was the nicest, but these are 500 awesome kilometers. From Besançon to Auxerre I sometimes felt like crossing Alps villages, whereas Auxerre - Tours was spent on more typical farming landscape.

Auxerre is about halfway Besançon and Tours, so it's perfect for a gas stop. The city centre is quite nice as well!
