The Casselberg, with its 176 m highest point in Flanders, is the objective of this day trip. You start from Steenvoorde, just above the Schreve, and the picturesque Terdeghem is the first village on your hiking route. Then the Recolettenberg appears immediately, the harbinger of the Casselberg. You flirt for a moment with the Grand Place before descending to the tiny Oxelaere. Then you climb the Casselberg from a different angle to the top of the summit. The Kasselberg has a particularly rich past, thanks to its strategic location. The Romans already knew this.
At the top of the mountain, you will be rewarded with unique views to the north and south. You always appreciate the Flemish character of the Grote Markt before starting the descent. Quiet rural roads take you back to Steenvoorde, where the Noordmeulen already invites you.
