We walk in the flat valley around the wide Canal d'Aire à la Bassée and the many tributaries of the Lys Romane. We do not have the opportunity to see the Lys (channeled), although we are sometimes only a few kilometers south of it. Those who want to see the Lys will be served at the bridge over the Lys near the marina of the Lys in Haverskerque and entering Saint-Venant. The Lys also forms the border of the departments of Nord and Pas-de-Calais.
The region we pass through today officially belonged to the Netherlands (Spanish) until the Treaty of Utrecht (1703). At the time, it was also part of the county of Artois (Artois).
The tour is a series of marked trails with the GRP Tour de la Lys (yellow-red) in the morning but especially the local trails marked in yellow such as Les Tchiens (starting point Robecq - 12.5 km), the Fouen (starting point Gonnehem - 10 km), Le Béniau (starting point Robecq - 12.5 km) and La Nave (starting point Gonnehem - 10 or 15 km)
