The famous Alexander von Humboldt was a welcome guest at the Royal Society as a top scientist of his time. At that time, the Royal Society was not here but at Somerset House. Later it would move to In the beautiful book "The Inventor of Nature," the author Andrea Wulf describes that Alexander von Humboldt was not pleased with the food of the exclusive Royal Society Dining Club. Alexander was simply used to the delightful French cuisine from Paris. He reportedly said: "I have dined at the Royal Society, where one is poisoned."
