From fine arts to interactive fun, there is something for everyone to experience. The old Tullie House is a Jacobean terrace house built in 1689 for Thomas Tullie, secretary and dean of the diocese, and features a beautiful classical façade.
Inside, there are several original architectural features including a staircase from the Jacobean period. Paneled rooms showcase important paintings from the Pre-Raphaelite period.
The museum houses a large collection related to Hadrian's Wall and the two Roman forts that once stood in Carlisle. It also has an extensive collection of zoological, botanical, and geological material, as well as a beautiful art collection featuring works by Burne-Jones, Stanley Spencer, Winifred Nicholson, Viel Sheila, and Phil Morsman.
