Letchworth Garden City is the first garden city ever designed. It was created by city planner Raymond Unwin. It includes the philosophy of the Briste garden village philosopher Ebenezer Howard . In 1898 he wrote Garden Cities of Tomorrow: "City and countryside must form a joyful unity from which a new hope, a new life and a new civilization will arise."
