Description by the author

From West Kensington, London,
To Surrey Hils and back

via Peaslake, Shamley, Dansfold, Cranleigh, Share, Headely

One of the best routes I took so far around this beatiful part of the country. It begins with 'fast' route to Cobham, then all is plotted as the 'nicest' and the last bit from Headley also is the 'fastest. All toghether works beautifuly. You have combination of city ride with rural tweesties, narrow and steep or wide and fairly open, good and bad surface, some give you all of that at once.So speed varies from national (however not many opportunities for that) to 15 m/h on blind and steep corners, both up or down. What is most important, very little or no traffic and great views on the way.

I made few stops. The first in Peaslake for coffee and chilly beef sausage roll. Both very nice, and when you have the sausage first and then taste your coffee it will be heavenly. Don't as me why, but for some reason it works supperb.

Next stop was in the Winterfold Forest, It is around 16 - 20 minutes rice from Peaslake, the road name is, depending on the map you are using, Greensand Lane (Google maps) or Winterfold Heath Road (here). The place is amazing and bit spoooky, by the way trees are growing there. There is a massive and very deep canyon and some nice walking and mauntain bike riding paths. On one side of the road you have pine forest and on the other mixed and different, this is where the canyon is. There is a fallen tree, from which 6 other trees are growing!!! directly from the trunk lying on the ground.

Third stop I made in Cranleigh but on Fridays Wild & Green Cafe seems to be closed, so I went to Costa for kind of lunch. But on the same street, you will find few other places like an old pub, Greggs or grill place.

My final stop was in Headley. The plan was to have a tea or coffee in their shop but it was closed, so I went to The Cock Inn, next door pub for a Coke and something sweet. It was nice.
