This wonderful coastal path explores the most celebrated stretch of shoreline in Northern Ireland. It can be walked in either direction, and is the best part of the longer Causeway Coast Way.

The World Heritage Site of the Giant’s Causeway makes a fabulous start point – don’t miss the opportunity to explore the 40,000 hexagonal stones that jut into the Atlantic. From here, the path heads east along the cliff top. Near Plaskin Head, you pass the final resting place of the Girona, the most famous vessel of the ill-fated Spanish Armada. Continue climbing over Benbane Head, where sheer cliffs drop 100 meters to the sea. Pass the ruins of 16th-century Dunseverick Castle, then duck through a natural rock arch to reach the idyllic hamlet of Portbradden. Cross the long sandy beach of Whitepark Bay, and finish at the picturesque harbour of Ballintoy.

Note that from Portbradden to Ballintoy, the route is inaccessible within two hours of high tide. Check tide times before setting out.
