A fine eighty-odd miles through stunning and sometimes remote scenery, with several good climbs, the toughest being between Langholm and Newcastleton. Newcastleton welcomes cyclists and has several accommodation options. You'll be ready for a beer. Dry burg Abbey is a little off the direct route, but worth a visit, and spend a while in Melrose, Hawick and Langholm - if you have time. Hawick to Langholm has some remote country, but there are refreshment possibilities, including a Buddhist retreat.
