The poet and sandal-maker Melissinos can be found on the outskirts of the new Plaka new: Psirri. More specifically at Aghias Teklas. The reason why this sandal maker is so famous is because 'The Beatles' shopped here to get their sandals.
The organization of the Olympic Games of 2004 decided that Melissinos should make the sandals to be used for the ceremonies of the Olympics.
