Ceramics is a famous tradition of Sifnos and continues till present. En Sifno is the workshop of Giannis Apostolidis. His family has a long family tradition in pottery art for more than 100 years. The clay of Sifnos includes argil and some metals that makes it extremely fire resistant. The peak for pottery art in Sifnos was just before the Second World War, when 90 workshops were working in Sifnos occupying about 180 craftsmen and many more people for the external works. Did you know that in the past the words "potter" and "Sifnian" meant the same for all Greeks.
