Spetses is a large and picturesque spreading along the slopes of a hill, the town has several quarters with elegant mansions and narrow paved paths. Dapia, the main port of Spetses, is surrounded by cannons and provides a romantic place for a day coffee or an evening drink. In the Medieval times, the island flourished with trade and the locals constructed elegant mansions that survive till today.
We suggest that you visit the museum of Bouboulina, a traditional mansion that was the home of a famous heroine of the Greek Revolution.
It is extremely close to Porto Cheli easily visible from the house. To reach the island you can either take the water taxi from Costa which takes approximately 5 minutes and it costs 20 euros per ride. The price changes after midnight to 30 euros. Another option is going by kaiki-boat from Costa to Dapia which takes 20 minutes and the cost is 2 euros per person. Usually there are no kaikia boats after midnight.
Cars are not permitted on the island, only mopeds and bicycles. You can take a horse drawn carriage ride around the old town and harbor (minimum of 20 euros a ride). You can also go on foot to the old harbor it takes 20 minutes from Dapia.
