The plateau of llei is a fertile basin at an altitude of about 200m above seal level. It is an example of a small intramontane basin. Intramontane basins are locked in between surrounding mountains, but is not encloded, such as the doline of Didyma just west of it. So they have hydrological opening via valleys to the sea. This is also the case here. There are a few valleys cutting into the edges of the basin. One of them is the river of Thermisia.
