The section of the canyon path between the bridge and the small chapel is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful hiking trails in the region. The path is indicated with red arrows. And here you literally step into footsteps from the past. It is this path that was an 'exit' to safety for the inhabitants of Ermioni. And the notion of "exit" is what Katafyki , the name of the gorge, means. This original footpath leads towards Epidavros, Kazarma, Tiryns and Mycenae. It was also the place where many Ermioni villagers used to hide from the brutal raids by Turks and pirates in the past.
