Grizokabos or Grizokampos means "Grey Valley". The village got its name from the gray flysch that can be seen here on the northern valley wall. Flysch is a highly stratified rock with alternating sandstone and shale. Especially the shale, made of sea clay causes the grey colour. The flysch was created under water, near the shoreline when huge amount of material eroded from the mountains. This type of rock is very much linked to phases of strong tectonic activity and orogenesis.
