The sulphurous water of the hot water source is seeping out in the sea and harbour of Methana. The milky blue color makes that very obvious. You also might find locals taking a bath in the healing water, linked to the volcanic activity of this area. The medicinal, sulphurous springs are located at the entrance to the city of Methana. They are open all year round. You can always bathe there free of charge, as long as the water temperatures allow it. It is the same healing water that is also used in the closed spas. Everything is on the fault zone that runs through the spa town. Sea water seeps into these cracks and hits the cooling magma chamber of one of the methana volcanoes at a depth of approx. 1-2 km.
