Vasilis gives you a personally guided tour of the museum which is a private initiative of his family. A large part of the museum is the original house, including the furnishings of a traditional residence in the mountains of Lefkada.
Here Vasilis stands at an authentic wine press. Pay particular attention to how the screw thread was made in the press stem and then also in the wooden block as a negative. To be able to do that, you need to have quite a few expert woodworking techniques.
Karya resident Theodoros Katopodis established this museum to keep the cultural heritage alive. Here they also want to show the "karsaniki" stitch as a remarkable story and technique of the village. But also hand-woven and knitted handicrafts of all kinds. It is a labor of love to keep alive the legend of "Koulsohero" which you can learn all about here.
