Description by the author

This motorbike trip takes you through one of the most peculiar landscapes of Greece: the poljes of Arcadia. These closed plains and basins are surrounded by mountains are almost perectly flat. They get rid of their water via sinkholes. Although they are almost perfectly flat areas, they are not located at sea level. They are located at 650 m above sea level! This peculiar landscape can only exist because of the vivid tectonic activity in this area and because of the limestone rocks, having their origin in an ancient sea.

Practical:

  • You can shorten the trip, by eliminating the last loop of 35 km.
  • The route starts and ends on the E65 highway. This highway takes you in a few hours aross the Peloponnese (remark: it is a toll road!)
