Graves of the Leinstermen Loop

Difficulty: Moderate Time: 2.5 hours Distance: 6km with 250m ascent

By car, the trailhead for this walk is 15 minutes from Ballina/Killaloe or 10 minutes from Portroe. Park by the roadside once there. Visit a megalithic standing stone or, if you believe legend, this was where Leinstermen and their king were slaughtered by Brian Boru’s soldiers around 1,000AD. Red-arrow signage later points the way to Tountinna, highest of the Arra hills, where you’ll appreciate the rolling countryside and enjoy fabulous views of Lough Derg and its islands before descending. sportireland.ie
