This beautiful coastal path contours along the top of red sandstone cliffs, passing many coves and inlets along the way. There are two options in terms of route length, both starting from the pretty fishing village of Dunmore East.

The shorter option makes an out and back journey to beautiful Portally Cove. It includes steps and some undulations, and gives a round trip of 4km. For a longer walk, you can also continue beyond Portally, past Rathmoylan Cove, as far as Ballymacaw Cove. This second option offers round trip of almost 15km.

Route highlights include great views across Waterford Harbour to Hook Head Lighthouse, and a wide variety of coastal rock formations including caves, arches and sea stacks. The flora and fauna is a treat too; in summer months you’ll be surrounded by coastal flowers, sea birds and seals.
