A truly memorable walk, the trip around Dursey Island begins with a sea crossing aboard Ireland’s only cable car. Highlights include the wild island atmosphere, stunning coastal scenery and poignant history. Follow the signed walking route, which is part of the long- distance Beara Way. An old road leads to the island’s third hamlet of Tilickafinna, where it's worth continuing to the summit of point 154m for fine views over the western tip and islets.

Return to a signpost, then turn left onto the Mountain Route. This informal path returns to the start across a wonderfully open ridgeline, which is punctuated by a Napoleonic signal tower at the island’s high point of Cnoc Bólais (252m).
