Reinhold Messner, the world's most famous mountaineer, was born in the Dolomites. He is working on a series of museums, all related to the phenomenon of mountains. For his collection of mountain paintings, he has chosen the summit of Monte Rite. From the hyper-modern roof of his Museo nelle Nuvole ('museum in the clouds', www.museonellenuvole.it), you can see from the Marmolada to the Adriatic Sea on clear days.
