The Toirano area has more than 50 caves. The Grotta della Bàsura and Grotta Inferiore di Santa Lucia, connected by a tunnel, are among the most beautiful in Italy. The highlight of the first cave is the meter-long "sausages," a variant of stalactite that occurs only here. The crystals in the second cave are particularly fine-branched, resembling snow crystals, just like they appear under a microscope.
