The luxury boat builder Riva, based in Sarnico near Bergamo, builds the larger boat versions here in La Spezia. This new yard in La Spezia, opened in 2003, constructs the big brothers such as the Ego (68 feet), Venere (75), Opera Super (85), and Athena (115). Small or large, they are all floating palaces, decorated and furnished with products exclusively from Italian suppliers such as Scarpa and Antonio Luppi, Flexform, B & B, and Richard Ginori. For engines and other technology, the company does like to rely on foreign parties such as MAN, Yanmar, and Mitsubishi, but the Riva interiors remain a strictly national affair, as Riva places great value on the Italian character of the ships.
