Brenner Pass

Source: Haneburger

The Brenner pass (in German: Brennerpass, in Italian: Passo del Brennero) separates Austria from Italy. At 1,372 m above sea level, it is the lowest and most frequented passageway between the north and south of the Alps and the only one that passes through an open-air railway. It is also crossed by the European highway 45 using the toll motorway A13 opened on November 17, 1963 in Austria and the A22 motorway in Italy.

The construction of the motorway began in 1957 and on this occasion the Europabrücke was built, which until 1974 was the highest bridge in Europe with 190 m high.
