Pollica is a town and comune in the province of Salerno in the Campania region of south-western Italy. Located 94 km from Salerno, the town rises to an elevation 370 meters from sea level.
The first mention of Pollica dates back to a legal document from 1113 in which Targisius II Sanseverino donated property to the Abbott of Cava. In the 13th century the town was owned by the Alemagna, who sold it to the Capano, a family originally from Rocca Cilento. The Capano, who held the noble title of princes, governed the town until 1795 when there were no heirs and the town became the property of the De Liguoro, who held it until 1806 .
