The façade of the Orsanmichele chuch contains a statue created by Donatello: St. George. The sculpture was considered the most important sculpture of his time. It became a pilgrimage site for fellow artists from the 15th and 16th centuries. The original is now in the Bargello museum or Bargello Palace.

Orsanmichele (Italian pronunciation: [orsamːiˈkɛːle]) (or “Kitchen Garden of St. Michael”, from the contraction in Tuscan dialect of the Italian word orto) is a church in the Italian city of Florence. The building was constructed on the site of the kitchen garden of the monastery of San Michele, which is now gone.
