The present church, also called Dom auf dem Berge, was built in classicistic style by Wiener Hofbaurat, on a project drawn up between 1838 and 1845, between 1846 and 1849.
The bell tower hosts a mighty concert of 8 bells in Lab2, among the largest in South Tyrol, cast by the D'Adda foundry in Crema in 1922. The main bell has a diameter of 180 cm and a mass of 3522 kg; The total mass of the concert is 8217 kg. The clock of the bell tower of Castelrotto was built in 1754 by the brothers Mathias and Peter Alneider, probably relatives of Giovanni Battista Holnaider.
