The Navigliaccio or Naviglio Vecchio is an artificial canal that originates in Binasco from the Ticinello Canal and flows into the Ticino in Pavia. It is the predecessor of the Naviglio Pavese.
There are testimonies, among others by Bernardino Corio, a Milanese historian, that Galeazzo II Visconti had a canal built in 1359 between Pavia and Milan, which served as an irrigation canal intended to bring water to the Vernavola Park, a green area that extends from the Visconteo Castle of Pavia to the modern Certosa di Pavia.
