Certaldo (Alto) - Tuscany

Certaldo consists of the more modern lower town and the upper medieval village (Alto).

It is possible to go by car and park in the parking lot in Certaldo Alto, about 100 meters before the entrance of the village. The road from the more modern lower town to the old town is beautiful.

The other option is to park your car in Piazza Boccaccio and then take the funicolare up there. This train/cable car takes you up in a few minutes.

From the train you see the lower town getting smaller and before you know it you arrive in Certaldo Alto.

Once you have arrived in Certaldo Alto, you will be surprised by the beautiful old town. It's as if time has stood still here.

Beautiful old buildings, all well maintained and you can see that the people live here with love. The streets are brightened up by colorful flowers and there is a relaxed atmosphere.

It is a lovely village to walk through, to enjoy the beautiful architecture and the pleasant atmosphere.

The town consists of a main street (Via Boccaccio) where several small shops and bars are located.

Fun fact: you can legally get married in the courtyard of Palazo Pretorio and in the adjacent church.

Fun fact: at a panoramic point there is a sign that kissing is mandatory here.
